Not Yet Perfect
February 17, 2022
Once kings and queens
towering over the cities before us
As we arise in the morning to our beautiful scenes
With the loyal ones that we trust
Not all perfect for there are prisoners we’ve obtained
Sold to the land of the free
They cry out at the pits of the sea for they are chained
Once settling they were unsure of who they were to be
For by the 17th century they stood to be free from labor
Still not perfect but we start to climb the stairs to unity
Now were here we are as warming neighbors
hoping that our lives be filled with opportunities
Everyday we face new challenges and sometimes we fail
Yet we approach each rising sun praying justice will prevail.
