This is an ode 

To my empty mind

With a thirst for words that just won’t come

Parched by the persistent pest that is

Procrastination

This is an ode

To the rhythmic tap of the ‘Delete’ key

When frustration builds up in my throat

Like a pill too stubborn to swallow

A supplement called struggle

This is an ode

To that light-bulb moment of inspiration

Fingers racing, mind pacing as

Words flow from my fingertips

This rushing, raging river of determination

This is the process

Every tired yet diligent writer goes through

Letting out an exasperated sigh of relief

When you finally type
