If you ever find yourself on the j train ….

Seek the nearest porch to sit on 

or a pile of stairs 

under a yolk-like sun 

that runs it´s heat waves 

through your coiled hair.

If you ever visited when I was a little girl ….

You would see abandoned bikes 

laying in a field 

of sunflowers and black birds

behind rows of 

cookie-cutter homes

where the lines of freedom 

follow veiny sidewalks

to a fake pot of gold.
