A word I have gotten to know very well recently

As I watched my brother leave for his final year of college

I thought of how we will no longer live together

No more making dinner together 

No more “Hey Alexa, play Billy Joel”

No more late night advice passed from oldest to youngest

As I watched my sister leave next

For her first year of college

I thought of our laughs 

Our many many laughs

No more late night drives

No more movie nights

No more “if you do it I’ll do it”

I now sit alone

In a lonely home

I have watched you grow

It’s now time to watch you go
