We are looking for fresh voices and perspectives, new ideas, and reinvention of familiar topics. Language should be engaging and vivid, and places our readers in your created world.

GUIDELINES:

  • Your work must be 100% original.
  • No more than 1000 words (poetry = no more than 20 lines)
  • Please refrain from graphic violence, sexual situations, and unwarranted profanity (please email Ms. Mustafah [email protected] if you have questions about your content before submitting).
  • Absolutely no…
    • Racist, sexist, homophobic, ableist, and other marginalizing language or content.
  • Please include a brief statement of inspiration for your piece: How did the idea come to you? Why did you feel the need to compose this piece?

FORMATTING YOUR PIECE:

  • Include your full name, title of piece, genre (fiction, poetry, nonfiction, other), your year of graduation.
  • Google Doc or Word Document (no pdfs, please)
  • 12-point font, preferably Times New Roman
  • Proofread and polished

OPTIONAL: You may include an original jpeg image (photograph, art piece) to accompany your piece; however, EDDA reserves the right to use its own visual images best suited for your piece. It’s a great idea to pair your piece with a friend’s artwork–you’ll both be published!

For Visual and Performing Art:

Please send a compatible file jpeg, png, mp3, or a YouTube link. All guidelines above are applicable in terms of content and inspiration statement.

Include your full name, title of piece, genre (fiction, poetry, nonfiction, other), your year of graduation.

Any submissions that do not follow these guidelines and formatting rules will be disregarded.
