Emeralds in the sky
KC, ‘25
There are Emeralds in the sky
They were left there by those that came before
Looking down at us now,
And they’ll be picked up by those that have yet to arrive
They were left there by those that came before
Shining to light the way to our tomorrow,
And they’ll be picked up by those that have yet to arrive
Refracting in the air as they dance
Shining to light the way to our tomorrow
Looking down at us now
Refracting in the air as they dance
There are Emeralds in the sky
Don’t discriminate
HR, ‘26
Don’t judge; you may not know how deep you cut.
Its people who are very different
Some people could be taller or bigger
Could be darker or lighter in a way
Right away you can notice differences
If you hate different then you are crude
Most people judge things they don’t know about
I would say their just uneducated
Now if they took time to learn they can see
A lot of diversity is needed
To give balance in our society
It’s a new word to describe different
One way is simply being called unique
Now think twice about discriminating
We’re all in this together.
JB, ‘25
Crazy to think this is almost the end
but also a start to new beginnings
gave it my all now it’s time to move on
scared but filled with excitement to move up
the next big level is calling my name
thankful for everyone who’s helped me
this experience has been amazing
I’ve came so far in both sports that I love
it amazes me on how fast time went by
I remember when I was scared at first
but now this comes naturally to me
I’ve enjoyed every moment I had
this set me up for my future for sure
The thanksgiving feast of my mind
MM, ‘26
Thanksgiving could have been better. Let’s sleep.
Turkey Coma performed its trick all right.
I want to party and feast in my head.
Here Paradise birds set up the table.
A yellow tiger who I have named Edge
And a red rabbit who I named Ninja
Creatures I have bonds with in a game I love
Perform a dap, a sign of their friendship
Seeing me, they wave their hands, beckoning
I sit across from them at the table
The bird-masked girl with the airship is here
The detective with her blue duck, and more
We don’t fight over politics, just joy
And feasting, and fun, and warmth, and friendship.
Never be I Clean
BI, ‘25
Can a fiend escape addictive pleasure?
Your fingers dance in my head, compulsive.
I write a requiem of that treasure
Enamored with you I am convicted
Deluded, bewitched, beguiled, by you
Friendship we call it, entangled we are
Your soul tether–I know–I fall into
My rose tint glass, I require a spare
Your heart is not mine, a hard pill to eat
Still, I do long to become your keeper
To forget feelings an undoubtful feat,
Our irresolute kinship still steeper
A rapturous light gleams soft from your face
Never be I clean, yearning your embrace
A Silent Shattering
LJ, ‘27
You’re the fairest of them all.
I’m the mirror on the wall
I watch you weep, stumble, and fall
I watch you dance and prance in my luscious gleam
I’m the mirror on the wall
Forced to watch you throughout it all
I watch you dance and prance in my luscious gleam
I envy your humanity, the way you love, smile and sing with glee
Forced to watch you throughout it all
I wish someone would hear my call
I envy your humanity, the way you love, smile and sing with glee
Instead of you, I wish it were me.
I wish someone would hear my call
I watch you weep, stumble, and fall
Instead of you, I wish it were me.
You’re the fairest of them all.

Her screams filled the room
One of two remains alive
Bloody mess, stained knife, broken friendship
A mistake that shouldn’t have been made
One of two remains alive
One stands over the body in agony
A mistake that shouldn’t have been made
“It was your fault!” being her last words
One stands over the body in agony
Bloody mess, stained knife, broken friendship
“It was your fault!” being her last words
Her screams filled the room
“You have time”
DNC, ‘28
I’ll wait for you as long as it takes
I’ll be with you through thick and thin
“Hey haven’t heard from you in a while”
“Sorry not think week I’m busy”
I’ll be with you through thick and thin
“Hey haven’t heard from you in a while”
“Sorry not think week I’m busy”
“I’m sorry Lord please forgive me”
“Hey haven’t heard from you in a while”
I’ll be with you through thick and thin
“I’m sorry Lord forgive me”
I’ll wait for you as long as it takes
“Reunion”
HG, ‘26
I’ve missed you more than you could ever know
Each day has been so painstakingly long
I’ve been wishing for you, praying you’d come back to me
And now my wish has come true…
Each day has been so painstakingly long
But I rub my eyes, for you have returned
And now my wish has come true…
It’s so nice to be with you again
Still I rub my eyes, for you have returned
I’ve been wishing for you, praying you’d come back to me
It’s so nice to be with you again
I’ve missed you more than you could ever know
A Love Album
AH, ‘26
Waking up, no dread, just to see their face
All your playlists are love ballads, real life
They’re in your presence or your current text
The song starts to slow down, but fights speed up.
The broken record of “Break up, Make up?”
Apple Music suggests songs you once craved.
New playlist has just Jhené and Summer.
Dry goodmorning texts paired with wet tear ducts.
The beats cancel out “Do you guys still date?”
Cocoon to swallow, that birthed butterflies
Communication isn’t key, it’s a clock
The time ticks till how long this sh*t will stop
Mind on pause and play, his eyes filled with grey
No I cannot stay, this song cannot play
Fire in my Court
MW, ‘25
A game in my court where my rules awaits
I found a love that’s constant, pure and true
The ball in my hands a thrill I create
A game that binds my heart like lovers do
For every dribble, every shot I take
All disappears and time begins to slow
Stillness in the gym like a silent lake
Shots beyond the arc quickly begin to flow
The cheering crowd, the scoreboards rhythmic beat
They fuel my soul like s’mores by a fireplace
Wins and losses I continue feeling heat
This love for hoops I could never replace
Basketball, my fire, passion fierce and strong
Within your game is where I belong

Her smile is beautiful
She doesn’t see herself the way everyone else does
If only she could understand everyone’s admiration
With the shadows, she’s untouched by the world around her
She doesn’t see herself the way everyone else does
Her dark and mysterious nature is alluring
With the shadows, she’s untouched by the world around her
Her contrasting darkness lights up the world around her
Her dark and mysterious nature is alluring
If only she could understand everyone’s admiration
Her contrasting darkness lights up the world around her
Her smile is beautiful
A Cutesy Little Sonnet
SO, ‘25
Could you please just let me down easily?
Not that I would expect you to be mean,
but everyone wants you, and they’re all right.
It’s dumb falling for someone I don’t know,
but how could I not, when you look like that,
and act the way you do? You’re just perfect.
Could you just leave some for the rest of us?
I know I’m pretty nice myself but you,
you are incomparable, it’s just not fair.
He seems pretty, he seems kind, he’s not mine,
he may never be but sometimes I wish,
I really, and unfortunately wish,
that he might be worthy of me at all.
Oh! How painful it is for me to fall.
Forest
SR, ‘28
A green fuzz creeps up the wood of a log
Civilians wake and crawl out from their homes.
Ladybugs float down and land on mushrooms.
Fungi grow from the city, latched on bark.
Poison Ivy leaves shelter fireflies,
Stink bugs wander into valleys of mud,
And snails collect crumbs from littered wrappers.
Toads sing songs of croaks as cicadas hiss,
Their band performing for all the creatures.
The overhanging leaves filter sunlight,
Spilling golden puddles onto the grass.
Ants shuffle into the day with straight lines.
Birds begin singing right as worms emerge,
And the forest comes alive with music

How do I describe my heart in human form
Your eyes, they sparkle like stars in the night
Illuminating every dark corner
Your voice, it can guide me through the darkness
And takes me to the place I can call home
Your hair, each strand represents a beauty
A beauty so rare it feels like a dream
Your smile, it cleanses the depths of my soul
And can transform me into a new man
Your laugh, it’s sweet like a red rose’s scent
It fills up my ears and makes me feel warm
That’s why youre my heart in human form
So when I look at you, that’s what I see
My heart, my home, the only one for me
